What the ranking does not tell you

  • An average mixes home types. Toronto Central looks affordable against Oakville only because most of its sales are condos.
  • Commuting has a cost. A lower price in Oshawa, Innisfil or Orangeville comes with a longer drive or train ride if you work in Peel or Toronto.
  • Neighbourhoods vary more than cities. Brampton’s community averages ran from $457,541 to $1,849,048 in the second quarter of 2026.

Where Peel Region fits

Brampton ($886,865) and Mississauga ($898,510) sit just below the middle of the ranking, and Caledon ($1,120,586) sits in the top third. A detached home averaged $1,020,556 in Brampton, against $1,288,669 across the whole region, which is $268,113 less. That gap is why many buyers who are priced out of Toronto, Vaughan and Mississauga end up in Brampton.
